TIM “RIPPER” OWENS - Spike TV’s Bar Rescue Show Gives Ripper’s Rock House On-Camera Stress Test; Video

It’s turning into an emotional rescue for Tim “Ripper” Owens, reports Akron Beacon Journal’s Rich Heldenfels. A veteran musician and former lead singer of Judas Priest, Akron native Owens is also a partner with singer and businessman Micah Posten in the Ripper’s Rock House bar and restaurant on Manchester Road in Akron.

This week the self-described “rockin’ sports eatery” has been getting a visit from Bar Rescue, the Spike TV series in which bar consultant Jon Taffer dispenses advice — much of it loud and tough — to the owners and staff of struggling operations. (The series airs at 9 PM Sundays. You can also find episodes on spike.com.)

Wednesday, the Rock House staff was getting ready for an on-camera “stress test” to see how it will handle a big crowd, after some initial guidance from Taffer on Tuesday and training on Wednesday. Taffer once told the BroBible website that the stress test produces “the most brutal day” in a Bar Rescue shoot.

And Owens was wondering Wednesday how much tougher things could be.

“It was pretty stressful” on Tuesday, Owens said. “It’s been pretty stressful since Saturday night when they first showed up and started doing some filming.”

Still, finally able to confirm the Bar Rescue appearance, Owens wrote on Facebook Wednesday: “Come out at 9 and enjoy the evening with cameras in your face. LOL!”

Final filming is tomorrow (Saturday) night at 10 PM. It is recommended people arrive early if they would like to be part of the show. The response was been great and seating capacity is limited.

Bar Rescue also recommended a name change to Tim Owens' Traveler's Tavern. See the new sign below:
