DEATH ANGEL - The Dream Calls For Blood

Sadly, oft overlooked San Fran thrashers DEATH ANGEL continue to deliver high quality releases and insane live performances, thanks in no small part to mainstays Mark “Thanks for the shot of Jager” Osegueda and guitarist Rob Cavestany. Plenty of ear candy, especially with six-string squelches and effects: ‘Caster Of Shame’ and ‘Son Of The Morning’, are just two examples. The key thing is they never forget to keep it catchy, melodious hooks almost at every turn. The title track is a staccato riffing keeper, while the acoustic begun ‘Execution/Don’t Save Me’’ leans more towards Frolic In The Park style then the speedy thrash shuffle evident elsewhere. Check out Mark’s high pitched vocals on ‘Detonate’. The concluding ‘Territorial Instinct/Bloodlust’ not only features a ton of great guitarwork (legitimate solos, not just riffs), but easily one of the most easy to listen to tracks since Act III, praise that doesn’t come cheap! DEATH ANGEL just keep getting better!
