DISMEMBER - Where Ironcrosses Grow

After Entombed's move toward death 'n' roll and Dismember's disappearance for four long years, many would be justified in thinking that the original Swedish death metal sound was dead. Sure Bloodbath issued an album last year, but it was more homage than serious craft. Bringing a smile to the faces of those who long for the glorious violence that is SDM, Dismember have returned in full down-tuned glory mixing wrenchingly heavy doom with excess speed. Whether it be flat-out killing machine tracks highlighted by ultra cool dual guitar interplay (move over Maiden) or speed metal songs that could have been stolen from Slayer's debut album Show No Mercy, Dismember have triumphantly brought the genre back to life. Unplug the life support system, this baby ain't done yet.
