MORTICIAN - Chainsaw Dismemberment

This is a total classic album for lonely dudes the world over, and a bit of context explains why: these days, nothing is really extreme enough to make the listener flip out anymore, but when NY freakies MORTICIAN dropped Chainsaw Dismemberment back in 1999, we were younger and more naive, and holy crap was this legitimately scary stuff. It was the band's second album, Relapse were just starting to reach a new level of quality with their releases, and this drum machine-led two-man horror-obsessed extreme grind/death band was really one of a kind. Really, they still are: listening to this even now in 2013, you're taken aback by the intensity of the sounds, the oppressiveness of the atmosphere, the pure horror of it all. This double-LP reissue comes with a large poster of the cover, which is something no sane adult should have up on their wall. But, then again, not sure any of us Mortician fans were ever too sane to begin with, so go for it. Not much new to see here on this reissue if you already own the original, but serious grind/death guys might just want to add this vinyl to the collection.
