YOB - The Illusion Of Motion

Ah, Yob. The pride and glory of Eugene, Oregon, have signed to Metal Blade; kinda shocking, really, considering the levels of extremity these guys work with. Four songs in just under an hour here (see?), all of which highlight Yob's ability to crush, destroy, maim and bore all at once. Ya gotta have a high attention span/capacity for punishment to get through all this in one sitting. But it's worth it, and fans of the more extreme Southern Lord Records stuff and heavy doom/sludge will appreciate the effort these lunatics put into crafting these tunes. On The Illusion Of Motion, the band actually speed things up a bit overall, but there's still the slug-like one bpm eight minute death segues, don't sweat it. Impossible, difficult music that transcends many boundaries, and is bound to be under-appreciated due to its inherent hermit-like qualities.
