BW&BK; has received the following press release:
Bay Area metal act SAROS (featuring members of AMBER ASYLUM, BASTARD NOISE and WEAKLING) have completed work on their new album Acrid Plains to be released by Profound Lore Records mid-February 2009.
Finding themselves within the circle that comprises the artistic surge of the underground Bay Area metal scene alongside like-minded acts as LUDICRA, HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE, ASUNDER, GRAYCEON, AMBER ASYLUM and WORM OUROBOROS, Saros present a unique front with their brand of epic blackened progressive chamber-laced metal.
Tastefully blending a collective of influences from several genres such as classic Bay Area metal, black metal, progressive metal, folk, and neo-classical chamber music, Acrid Plains (produced by the legendary knob-twiddler Billy Anderson) embraces the characteristics evident in Saros’ musical peers while combining characteristics reminiscent from such acts as METALLICA (...And Justice For All era), DEATH (Symbolic era), the folk-sensibilities of AGALLOCH and DEATH IN JUNE, and the gothic neo-classicism of the aforementioned Amber Asylum (which in turn is Saros singer Leila Rauf’s other full-time band, as well as Amber Asylum mastermind Kris Force also makes a guest cameo appearance on Acrid Plains likewise).
Tracklisting for Acrid Plains goes as follows: 'Acrid Plains', 'As The Tyrant Falls Ill', 'Coriolis', 'As The Tyrant Falls Ill (Reprise)', 'Devouring Conscience', 'Reversion', 'The Sky Will End Soon'.
An MP3 of the track 'Reversion' can be heard here.
Saros are: Leila Rauf (guitars/vocals), Ben Aguilar (guitars), Tim Scammell (bass), Blood Eagle (drums).
