Greece's Solid Rock has issued an interview with RACER X guitarist PAUL GILBERT. The following is an excerpt from the interview, conducted by Dionissis:

Q: So let’s talk about your new releases, both the album and the DVD. Now there’s an obvious reason behind releasing an album but what was your thoughts behind releasing the instructional DVD.

A: "Ah, well I think because my last two CDs have been instrumental CDs, there is much more guitar soloing going on and a lot more guitar playing in general. So that lends itself to an instructional DVD. There is a lot of material to demonstrate. Where as if it’s a vocal album there’s only a third of the solos. So I’ve just got so much material to demonstrate that it makes sense to make a DVD out of it. Although I always put a lot of extra stuff on it so I hope my DVDs are never normal."

Q: I think you could safely say that. And it’s also kind of a novel idea for a DVD cause usually with instructional DVDs you get snippets of techniques where as you’re going through the whole album which is an interesting thing. Is it something you want to do in the future? What did you think of it?

A: "One of the things is that I’ve done a lot of instructional DVDs before so I’ve covered a lot of techniques. Really before I started making these instrumental albums I thought “What else can I do?” I mean, I can show a technique here and there and even do things. But the fact I can fit them into songs really gives me a whole new area to cover."
