Courtney Devores at the Charlotte Observer recently spoke with TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA co-founder Paul O'Neill. An excerpt from her report appears below:

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Show Is A Holiday Feast For The Eyes And Ears.

This year, Trans-Siberian Orchestra once again has a fleet of semitrucks and a crew of 300 working to bring its mix of hard theatrical rock and over-the-top holiday symphony to the masses.

But does the rock orchestra's founder, Paul O'Neill, ever wish he just managed a nice little four-piece rock band? Not really.

“The thing I love about Trans-Siberian Orchestra is it has no limits,” he says. “If there is a voice (or instrument) we don't have, we add a new member. Once you've been on an aircraft carrier, a sailboat doesn't do it for you.'”

TSO, which performs Thursday at Time Warner Cable Arena, currently has 75 members ranging from age 18 to the fifty-something O'Neill.

The size and the spectacle amaze newcomers every time.

“You can tell people coming for the first time,” O'Neill says. “They're expecting (musicians) to be in folding chairs.”
