Update: BLACK SABBATH Guitarist Tony Iommi To Be Immortalized In Birmingham Tomorrow - "It’s So Nice Being Recognised In Your Home Town"

Stilt-walkers, fire-jugglers and musicians will be among the entertainment when Birmingham rock legend Tony Iommi is immortalized on the city’s Walk of Stars tomorrow.

A free open air gig will be staged in Centenary Square from 4.30pm to mark the historic moment when the Aston-born guitarist will join fellow BLACK SABBATH star Ozzy Osbourne in having his name cemented into Broad Street’s answer to the Hollywood Boulevard Walk of Fame.

Called Broad Street Rocks, the gig will include music from Birmingham-based bands Max Raptor and The Swamis before Kerrang! Radio DJ Johnny Doom introduces Tony to receive his Walk of Star honour at 6.30pm.

Tony, aged 60, joins a string of other Midland legends to have received a star, including Hollywood actress Julie Walters, comedian Jasper Carrott, singer Noddy Holder, motorsport commentator Murray Walker and Norman Painting, of Radio Four’s The Archers Currently working on a new studio album with his band Heaven and Hell, Tony said he was looking forward to accepting his star.

“It’s great, it really is an honour,” he said. “I was very shocked. It’s so nice to have things like that. I’ve got one out in Los Angeles but I’m not from LA, it’s so nice being recognised in your home town.”
