Jason Gregory from Gigwise.com is reporting:
Lifelong GUNS N' ROSES fan Scott Mitchell was the first person in the UK to own a copy of the band's long-awaited new album 'Chinese Democracy', which is released today.
Mitchell, 37, picked up his copy in Oxford Street yesterday (November 23rd) after selected retailers in London were given special permission to break the normal Monday embargo.
"It is crazy to think that it's been 15 years to the day since the last record was released. I've been hoping this one would actually see the light of day,” Mitchell said.He added: “It sounds like it's going to set the standard for the rock releases of the future."
One hundred cycle couriers dispatched just 15 copies of the album to select shops on Sunday morning.
HMV spokesman Gennaro Castaldo said stores had ordered extra stock in order to cater for the expected high demand.
“We've had more enquiries about this over the past couple of years than for any other album, and now it's finally here we expect it to fly off the shelves,” he said.
