SCARLET SINS Drummer ELIE BERTRAND - "I Could Barely Speak English, And Coming Out Of High School I Didn’t Really Know What I Was Signing Up For..."

SCARLET SINS drummer Elie Bertrand has checked in with the following update:
"Hey Y’alls,It’s been a while. I’m overdue, I know…
Happy December 1st. Can’t believe we’re already there. It’s crazy. I’m approaching my 1.5 year anniversary with my sinner sisters. It’s such a weird feeling. I remember the day I arrived in Toronto (07-07-07 JACKPOT!!) like it was yesterday. I could barely speak English and coming out of High School, I didn’t really know what I was signing up for but now when I look back, so much happened and I’m really happy I’m here. We played the first edition of the PowerBox Fest in Seattle, we made a remarkable appearance at 2008 CMW, opened up for the Godfathers of
Metal, MÖTLEY CRÜE, we entered the official ballot of Grammy Awards nominations and I could go on and on.
And that’s just the beginning. Stay tune my friends even more stuff’s coming up in the New Year. We took a couple months off to write some new songs, finish up our first video and start working on a second one and we're perfecting our live show. 2009 is going to be a really busy.
So that’s about it for the up dates. We’ll know on Wednesday if we’re flying to LA on February 8th for the Grammy Awards. Keep your fingers crossed."
Elie
As previously reported, the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences has placed Scarlet Sins on the official entry ballot for the 2009 Grammy Awards in the following categories:
Best Rock Album - Scarlet Sins
Best Hard Rock Performance - 'Drown'
Best Hard Rock Performance - 'Strangelove'
Best Rock Song - 'Drown'
The Toronto-based quartet recorded their debut self-titled album with producer/engineer Richard Chycki, who boasts a catalogue of work for acts including Rush, Aerosmith and Simple Plan to name only a few. Described by Brave Words & Bloody Knuckles writer Carl Begai as "the equivalent of a sonic freight train", an album is only as good as its players, however, and Chycki agrees he had real talent to work with.
“Anyone that hears the Sins CD can’t believe it’s a bunch of girls,” he says. “That’s such a stereotype, isn’t it? Really, they’re simply a solid, energetic band with good songwriting.”This marks Scarlet Sins first official entry ballot for an award. Nominations will be announced on December 3, 2008 on CBS.
“We are so honoured to be on the entry ballot,” says Sylvya NuVynska, lead singer for Scarlet Sins. “We hope to follow in the footsteps of the many great rock bands that came before us.”If you haven't gotten a copy of this album, what are you waiting for?!
