hot flashes news lord

Sydney/Wollongong metallers LORD recently released their new EP Hear No Evil, and PyroMusic caught up with bassist Andy Dowling to chat about the new material, covering KYLIE MINOGUE and whether bass players really do get the girls.

The following is an excerpt from the interview, conducted by Spiritech:

Q: So do you have an accurate idea of when the next Lord album will be recorded and/or released?

A: "We've almost finished demoing the entire album with a few lyrics here and there to be completed, so we should be hitting the studio in the next few weeks. We're aiming for a late February/early March release so hopefully we can stick to that! There's a lot that needs to be done so we'll see how we go. All I know is that it won't be as much of a rush as the last album was to record."

Q: The EP also includes a cover of Kylie Minogue's 'On A Night Like This'. Whose idea was it to cover this song, and do you hope the band might be able to get some more "mainstream" airplay with this song?

A: "It was either Tim or TY (Tim Yatras, drums) who came up with the original idea to cover the song earlier this year. We had some basic tracks to get an idea of how it would sound, and after playing them back and realising that it actually wasn't that bad, we thought 'why not!?' The song has already had a bit of airplay on radio, including Triple-J, which is great. It might just be a cover song, but I think it's a damn good one and, if it means that people will take notice and possibly get into the band, then that's great!"
