TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA founder Paul O'Neill spoke to John Soeder from Cleveland.com recently about a number of topics. Here are a few excerpts from the chat:

On Trans-Siberian Orchestra's current tour: "Last year, we had the biggest show touring, period. This year, we doubled the size of it again. Last year, we were spending a million dollars a month on just explosives. This year, we're spending a million dollars every two weeks on just explosives. The light show this year is insane. . . . We wanted the entire trussing system to morph in time to the music. We're hanging 120 tons [of equipment] over the main stage alone, which is the max you can hang in most arenas. Actually, we had to hire engineers to check the buildings."

On the band's upcoming non-holiday album, Night Castle, due out next year: "It was supposed to be out in 2005," O'Neill said. "I have to get my act together now that GUNS N' ROSES put out Chinese Democracy. I no longer have that to hide behind. We've recorded 90 songs, which we'll cull down to 60. Half of it will be a rock opera and half of it will be a regular album."
