Acclaimed for his work with PORCUPINE TREE, OPETH and ANJA GARBAREK amongst others, Steven Wilson’s debut album Insurgentes will be released on Kscope on March 9th. Comprising ten new tracks that range from ballads and anthems to all-out industrial noise assaults, the dark, cinematic and richly textured album represents two years’ worth of creative output and numerous recording sessions worldwide in studios from Mexico City to Japan and Israel.

While Wilson is a member of several bands including BLACKFIELD, NO-MAN and BASS COMMUNION, he explains that “when I began writing these songs, I quickly realized that they would be best suited to an album under my own name. It was an intuitive, almost unconscious writing process that resulted in a kind of ‘poetry of melancholy.”

The special multi disk edition of Insurgentes will be available as a two-CD/one-DVDA version (limited to 3,000 copies), and a 4 x 10 inch vinyl version (limited to 1,000 copies), both with hardback book. Both editions will only be available to order from his website. A standard retail CD version will be issued early in 2009.
CD1 features the album itself, while the second CD includes songs recorded during the sessions but not included on the main album. The 4 x 10 inch vinyl version includes all the songs from both CDs in the digital edition. The DVDA contains a 5.1 surround sound mix of the album, high resolution 24 bit stereo, 18 minutes from the work in progress Lasse Hoile film Insurgentes, and other video material.
The hardback book contains a breathtaking set of photographs captured by Lasse Hoile and Susana Moyaho during SW's travels around the world making the album and shooting on location for the documentary. All designed by Carl Glover, printed on super high quality paper and bound in a hard cloth cover with embossed text. The ultimate collector's piece. The album will not be made available again in this deluxe form.
