Jack-of-all-trades DOUG GREAN, who is, among many other things, SCOTT WEILAND’s (STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, ex-VELVET REVOLVER) creative partner, touring band director, and also co-wrote Weiland’s recently-released solo album Happy in Galoshes (Softdrive Records), announces that Weiland’s solo sets are going to change.

Weiland’s musical director and guitarist GREAN reveals, “Last week we were in Las Vegas doing a pre-taping for the Fox Channel’s New Years Eve special. They wanted us to play three songs, with the third song being the single, “Missing Cleveland.” But when it came time to start the show, Scott and I had a short discussion right there onstage…we decided that we wanted to set the mood and switch things up. So instead of playing our prepared set, we launched into a 10-minute improvised jam…it went all over the map musically, and included some boundary-breaking vocals from Scott. The crowd was awestruck…and of course the TV producers went bananas because we had gone off script. They hate when you do that. We did end the big jam by playing "Missing Cleveland,' so everyone got what they wanted…but for a little while there, things were crazy. And that's kind of how we like it. So the Weiland fans should look out for more improv on this coming tour. We've also learned some older songs from Scott's other bands…but we've put odd spins on each and every one.”

Grean has also been tapped by Weiland’s management and radio promotion team to host a daily video blog from the tour, either from the tour bus or from backstage before and after each gig. “I will be pulling Scott and other band members into the blog,” GREAN continues. “I will be telling both exciting and mundane stories about life on the road with the Scott Weiland band. Every morning, I will upload the raw video to the video editor back in LA, and he will edit together a short report and post it on Softdrive’s website.”
