Peaceville Records are issuing a 2 disc special edition celebrating 20 years since the release of AUTOPSY's seminal debut album, Severed Survival.

Also includes the first new tracks in nearly 15 years.

One of the early death metal acts and no stranger to controversy over the years, Autopsy formed in 1987 in San Francisco and released 4 albums on Peaceville Records before disbanding in 1995 and going on to form ABSCESS.

The band notably features legendary drummer Chris Reifert, who began his recording career with US metal greats, DEATH, before taking on the unusual duty of handling drums and vocals for Autopsy. Autopsy has influenced a whole generation of extreme metal bands, from ENTOMBED and DISMEMBER to DARKTHRONE.

Severed Survival is (rightly) hailed as one of death metal’s finest releases. A completely rotten and uncompromising sound - dirty, sludgy, death and doom metal mixed in with repulsive tales of death and disease - it was originally released in April 1989.

The bonus disc comes crammed with rare and previously unheard versions of tracks from the early days and most essentially features 2 brand new Autopsy tracks recorded in autumn 2008 especially to mark this release. Many fans worldwide have always longed for new Autopsy material, and finally it has arrived! The first new material in roughly 15 years, and as sick as ever!

The booklet features new extensive liner notes by the band on the origins and history of Autopsy, including rare photos and images from their career. The 2CD edition shall ship from February 23rd but you can pre-order your copy here now.

The two new tracks are also available on the Horrific Obsession 7” vinyl single. This single is extremely limited (there are only 1000 copies) and there are only a handful left which are only available from www.peaceville.com. Click here to grab your copy before they are all gone.
