Bizjournals.com is reporting:

Activision's Guitar Hero video game will sponsor Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing cars in multiple NASCAR Sprint Cup Series races this season, including the Daytona 500, SportsBusiness Journal reports.

The Tuesday report cites industry sources. Terms of the deal were not available. Guitar Hero World Tour will be on the hood of Aric Almirola's No. 8 Chevrolet in Daytona, Fla., and it will sponsor a handful of races for Martin Truex Jr.'s No. 1 car as well.

Other Guitar Hero brands, such as METALLICA, which will be released this spring, also could be used in the sponsorship.

Video-game developer Activision Blizzard is based in Santa Monica, and also has operations in Irvine.

In July, Activision announced it was partnering with Metallica to offer downloadable content from the band's album Death Magnetic.
