THE LAST VEGAS drummer Nate Arling is featured in a new interview with KomodoRock.com. An excerpt appears below.

KR: Firstly, congratulations on winning Make Rock History. What was it like to be a part of the process?

Arling: "It was really cool. It all started as an online sign up which our guitar player signed us up for and we didn't know what to make of it at first but we figured we would be the perfect band for something like this. They picked 30 bands, then they picked six bands and then picked 1 band and that one band was us, The Last Vegas so yeah, it was a really good time."

KR: Excellent! Was there some hectic competition involved?

Arling: "Yeah, there were actually some pretty good bands. Like I said, the last round, there was six bands and we all played at the Whisky a go go in Hollywood and it was a sold out show and all 6 bands were really good. All four guys from MÖTLEY CRÜE were on the balcony and about 15 minutes after the last band played they announced from the balcony that 'The band we want to take on tour with us is The Last Vegas' and then we went directly to do an interview with Billboard Magazine and then we went and partied until the sun came up in a hotel room (laughs)."

KR: You already have four albums under your belt. What, for you, have been the fundamental differences between recording them compared to your new one with Nikki (Sixx) as a mentor?

Arling: "Before it was just recording on no budget, super fast. We had no time to do any of those recordings and we were pretty much just on our own, producing it ourselves. Working with a producer, especially someone like Nikki, just gives you that cool outside perspective which is nice to have and there are certain characteristics like good songs that take time to learn so with all the records they (Mötley Crüe) have put out and all the songs he has written, sometimes you're not necessarily born to be a great song writer, its a learn thing so its been cool to have someone along mentoring us and giving us suggestions and little tips and just how to well craft songs. We also have a little more time, were out here for two weeks doing the recording so its not like we have to spend 15 hours everyday in the studio (laughs) and your brain is just totally fried so its nice to be a little more relaxed."
