Robert Williams of Metal-Rules.com recently conducted a video interview with Rudy Sarzo at the 2009 Winter NAMM Show in Anaheim, California.

Check it out at this location.

As previously reported, Peavey is celebrating the Cirrus bass guitar’s tenth anniversary with a limited run of one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted basses, a Rudy Sarzo signature model and new solid finishes to augment the renowned instrument series.

The Peavey Cirrus Series represents a pinnacle in American luthiery, combining beautiful exotic wood selection and a resonant neck-through-body design with studio-quiet active electronics to create the true artist’s bass instrument. The Cirrus is fully refined in design, craftsmanship and technology and available in 4-, 5- and 6-string models, fretted or fretless.

Firmly rooted in the Cirrus legacy of finely crafted, tonally superior instruments, the Cirrus Tenth Anniversary basses are handmade in the U.S.A. and showcase the Peavey Custom Shop builders’ skill and attention to detail. The commemorative Cirrus 4, 5 and 6 showcase tops of select korina, koa and spalted birdseye maple, pickup covers handmade from walnut and koa and custom abalone and mother-of-pearl inlays bearing the Cirrus script.

With the Cirrus Rudy Sarzo Signature Model, Peavey celebrates another milestone. The bassist behind many of rock’s marquee bands, with 30 million records sold, has played Peavey gear for 25 years solid, through gigs with QUIET RIOT, WHITESNAKE, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN and now DIO and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT . The Cirrus Rudy Sarzo Signature Model is a four-string, neck-through-body instrument with a glossy, hand-stained maple top on an alder body. The bass’s pau ferro fretboard even features the classic snake-eye inlays from Rudy’s original Peavey signature bass.

“When I first got my hands on the Cirrus at its NAMM debut, I couldn’t let go of it,” said Sarzo. “Peavey let me take it home with me, and I played that prototype until it got stolen in 2004 on a Dio tour in South America. My new signature-model Cirrus incorporates elements from my original Peavey signature bass and the Cirrus I played for so many years. I could play anything that’s out there, and to me this is home. It’s like my third arm.”

Peavey also announces that the Cirrus Bolt-On Series, a streamlined version of the Cirrus made in 4-string and 5-string configurations, will now be available in the solid colors black, metallic red and metallic blue.

Peavey Cirrus bass guitars are available now authorized Peavey retailers. Please see your local retailer or Peavey.com for more information on the Cirrus Tenth Anniversary and Cirrus Rudy Sarzo editions.
