DON DOKKEN - "The Audience Is My Drug Now"
March 5, 2009, 15 years ago
Glam-Metal.com recently caught up with DOKKEN frontman Don Dokken at the band's February 28th show at Santa Fe Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Following is an excerpt from the brief interview.
On Dokken's longevity: "We're an an old school rock and roll band. We came from the era of Metallica and Van Halen. Dokken became popular in 1982 and already had several successful tours even before 1989 including BLUE OYSTER CULT, THE SCORPIONS and AEROSMITH. Every year I keep saying it's over but the fans keep showing up. I am seeing things clearly now since I am sober. The audience is my drug now."
On the state of metal today: "You don't hear guitar solos in music today because musicians can’t play them nowadays. Television makes people famous, look at the Jonas Brothers. You can listen to today’s music or Dokken."
