Telegraphjournal.com is reporting:

AC/DC fans in New Brunswick hope CTV Halifax has it right. But they also have their fingers crossed that the television network didn't mess up Moncton's chances to lure the superstars in the delicate world of concert negotiations.

A CTV Halifax report out this week said rock group AC/DC is coming to Moncton this summer but city officials deny it.

Citing anonymous sources, CTV reported Tuesday that a deal has been signed to bring AC/DC to the Magnetic Hill concert site this summer. But officials with the City of Moncton, which owns the concert site, emphatically deny any such deal. But they have long been candid in saying the Australian rockers are the band they have been chasing to play the hill this summer. The band is currently touring the U.K. promoting its new album, Black Ice. There was no indication on the official website that AC/DC had any concerts planned for Canada this summer.

By noon Wednesday, after CTV Halifax reported for the fourth time the show was confirmed, Moncton's Ian Fowler again flatly denied it.

"At this point in time, we have no contract signed with any promoter for any show at the hill this summer," said Fowler, the head of the city's Recreation, Parks, Tourism and Culture Department.

On Tuesday, The Canadian Press erroneously reported that an announcement about AC/DC performing in Moncton was expected to take place Wednesday. The original CTV report cited sources who said the announcement was expected later this week.

Peter Mallette, CTV's Halifax's assistant news director, said the network stands by its report.
