NAPALM DEATH vocalist Mark "Barney" Greenway spoke with The Free Lance-Star about his view on human rights. An excerpt from the interview is available below.

"I like to try to be a free thinker," he said. "I believe in human rights - pure human rights. Not government interpretation. "We're at the lower end of the scale," he added. "Billions of people are not given the same basic rights as those in power."

Putting his money where his lyrics are, Greenway is a leading figure in the Musician's Union in Europe, a trade union that represents musicians' rights.

"I represent everyone from classical to jazz to punk and metal," he laughed.

Two decades after inventing grindcore, Napalm Death continue to demonstrate that their work is far from done and that their art is now more relevant than ever. The group returns to the forefront of extreme metal with the critically acclaimed, new full-length release, Time Waits For No Slave, which is available now.

Napalm Death make their much anticipated return to North America for the first time in support of the new album on April 10th headlining the with KATAKLYSM, TOXIC HOLOCAUST, COLISEUM and TRAP THEM in the support slots. Time Waits For No Slave was produced by Russ Russell, who has worked with the band on their four prior albums as well, at Wales’ Foel Studios. The album sees Napalm Death evolve one step further to create a more dynamic sound while still maintaining the sheer brutality and ferocity that has come to be expected from the group.

Barney further comments: “The lineup for our North American headlining tour in April is stellar and personally I’m especially pumped to see Trap Them on the bill, as they have restored my faith in extreme music in general. Us? We’ll be pushing the ‘go’ button again and hopefully blazing away like it’s 1986 all over again - fast, faster, faster still.”
