TED NUGENT is a frequent visitor to the heartland during summer touring months. And this summer was no exception. The music legend and hunting advocate took Omaha by storm on Saturday, June 6. But it wasn’t for a concert performance.

The rocker was in town to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Ted Nugent Kamp for Kids. Since 1989, Nugent has conducted Kamp sessions in Michigan, Ohio and Nebraska.

This year’s Kamp marked the 12th annual session in the Corn Husker State. Over 800 kids ranging in age from 8-14 have benefited from the outdoor Kamp in Nebraska alone! The all-day event provided youngsters with a hands-on introduction to archery, fishing, BB gun instruction and other outdoor-related activities.

NUGENT spoke to the young people about a conservation lifestyle, participated in outdoor activities throughout the afternoon, and capped off the day with a campfire performance of his signature Hunt Music.

“JIMI (HENDRIX) got high, and Jimi is dead. I went hunting and I’m still Ted,” says Nugent, who has remained staunchly sober throughout his longstanding career.

The Nebraska Kamp is conducted in conjunction with the Papillion Parks and Recreation Department. Nebraska members of Nugent's organization, Ted Nugent United Sportsmen of America, and other volunteers provide instruction to youngsters who attend the Kamp.
