CAMP FREDDY Guitarist To Perform With THE WILDHEARTS Frontman For Two Los Angeles Shows
June 16, 2009, 15 years ago
CAMP FREDDY guitarist / founder Billy Morrison has checked in with the following update:
"I've been taking a bit of a break from the whole technology/cyber world in general recently and have experienced a lot of change in my life. It's been very healthy to back off and shut down for a while. I am still not back up and running fully as I have to say I am enjoying life without the constant screen in front of my face. But this too shall pass (as they say)!I do want to let you know that I am currently learning and rehearsing a set of WILDHEARTS songs (as well as two or three of Ginger's solo songs) because I got an email out of the blue asking me if I wanted to play guitar in a 'put together' solo band with Ginger to do two shows in LA. I think I thought about it for maybe six seconds before saying yes! As all the regulars here know, THE SEX PISTOLS were the band that changed my life. And immediately after them come The Wildhearts. THE best rock and roll songwriting I have ever heard, bar none....an attitude of pure punk rock, and choruses so huge you could populate them. My kind of rock.
So we will be playing at The Viper Room in Los Angeles (with Michael Butler of JETBOY and Scott Lipps - tickets here) on July 16th and The El Rey (with The Toadies) on July 17th. Suffice to say that I am holed up in a darkened room, frantically counting and trying to make my fingers do things they just weren't made to do!! It's a fucking blast - I have been listening to some of these tunes for 15+ years. I finally get to rock them with the man that wrote them. Yet another milestone.
That's it. I will be checking in more frequently now - oh yeah....and Camp Freddy will be at The House Of Blues in Los Angeles on August 1st. The ESPN X Games show. I feel the rock coming back in full force!!"
