June 26, 2009, 15 years ago
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY / CYCLE OF PAIN bassist John JD DeServio has checked in with BraveWords.com for this exclusive update:
Q: JD, Cycle Of Pain recently wrapped up a tour with Black Label Society. What was it like performing double duty for COP and Black Label Society?
JD: "It was totally cool! My days were long as hell. I just had to drink twice as much!"
Q: What would you say was your favorite highlight and city to perform on the recent tour?
JD: "The Boise, Idaho show ripped. We got to go on right before BLS on this night. DOPE's tour bus broke down so it was just COP and BLS!"
Q: How did the audience respond to your new band Cycle Of Pain. I know the venues were 2,000 seaters on the recent tour. This was great exposure for your first tour with COP.
JD: "The crowds were awesome! We couldn't of asked for a better tour to start out with!"
Q: Cycle of Pain released their self debut album on Reform Records on April 21st. How is the album doing on the Active radio charts and how have sales been so far? Have they reached your expectations for your first debut with Cycle Of Pain?
JD: "Actually, we're charting on metal radio right now. I think we're at #16! Hopefully active rock radio will soon follow."
Q: On July 19th, Cycle Of Pain will open for Black Label Society once again at the Sound Academy in Toronto. Tell us about this show and if there will be any more COP dates with Black Label Society on the upcoming tour.
JD: "Yeah we got added to 4 upcoming BLS shows!!! The 1st one is the 19th at the Sound Academy in Toronto. I've played here with BLS before!!! The Toronto Chapter rules! Then the 22nd in Montreal. I think this might be Black Label's first show here. COP will open the 26th in Hartford (Webster Theatre), then August 2nd at The House of Blues in NJ. We're all psyched to play Jersey with BLS! Home turf!"
Q: Are you looking forward to performing with SEVENTH VOID with COP at Dingbatz on June 27th?
JD: "Yeah, John and Kenny are good people. It's for my buddy's metal show. Scotty Evil on WDHA in Jersey."
Q: The Pedal To The Metal Tour will commence soon with Black Label Society, MUDVAYNE and STATIC X. Tell us what the fans can expect to see on the upcoming tour. Are you looking forward to playing arena shows this summer?
JD: "I really dig Mudvayne. They kill it. Gonna be a killer tour."
Q: Will you be doing any bass clinics on the upcoming tour?
JD: "I'm not sure yet. I might do Toronto and Montreal. We'll see."
