MIDNATTSOL Part Ways With New Guitarist, Seeking Replacement
July 9, 2009, 15 years ago
MIDNATTSOL have checked in with the following announcement:
"Recently we told you the happy news, that our guitarist Fabz became father of a little son. Such events always also bring some changes in life, thus Fabz decided to concentrate increasingly on his family and his new job. Unfortunately this also means that Fabz won’t be able to play at Midnattsol any longer. We can understand his decision very well and wish him all the best and good luck for the future! Thus it also means for us now: Midnattsol search for a new guitarist!
To complete the line-up and blast off again we are searching for a band experienced and creative guitarist. Do you already have live experience, are you motivated and ready for headbanging? Then please write to newguitarist@midnattsol.com and give us a short description about yourself (if possible with a picture) and what you have musically done so far.
What you can expect at us? A record deal, a rehearsal room at Ludwigsburg near Stuttgart, festivals and tours and of course us, a bunch of Midnattsols that like to party. We are currently writing songs for our third album and would be happy if you immediately join us with this and at the forthcoming Metal Female Voices Fest in Belgium. Musicians from Ludwigsburg / Stuttgart and the greater region will be preferred.
Metal on!"

As previously reported, Midnattsol vocalist Carmen Elise Espenaes recently spoke to BW&BK; scribe Carl Begai about life after the band's second album, Nordlys, and the departure of founding guitarist Christian Hector last May. In the excerpt below Espenaes discusses the band's develpoment as a live band over the past year, her own in particular.
“Those shows were a great experience because I noticed that we’ve grown a lot. We’re calmer in a live situation now, more mature, and we’ve grown together as a band in performing live. I’m not as nervous before the shows as I used to be. The show we did at the Rock Temple in Kerkade (Holland, in January 2009) was actually the best performance I’ve ever given because it was the first time I really heard myself for the whole show, and I could actually hear the guitars for a change. First time ever (laughs). Before I was just singing blind, I didn’t feel like I had any control. That show made such a huge difference for me, and I realized how other artists must feel when they have great sound on stage. It was like a new world for me, so I finally know what it’s like to be able to show people what I can do as a singer. I think the people really noticed that I was a lot more confident. For myself, I realized that if the conditions are right I can perform very, very well. Some people were saying I sounded like I do on CD, and because I haven’t done that many live shows that was quite a compliment. Now I’m not as insecure as I used to be, and I’m giving the best I can no matter what happens.”Go to this location or here for the complete story.
