ANTHRAX - Scott Ian Takes Break From World Tour To Play Championship Poker
July 10, 2009, 15 years ago
Scott Ian, guitarist for the multi-platinum ANTHRAX, starts Day 3 in the Main Event at the World Series of Poker today. Out of 6,494 who entered the no-limit hold'em world championship of poker series, Ian is one of only 1,486 still in the game and in contention to walk away with the first prize of more than $8.5-million. Anthrax headlined the kick off of the Rocklahoma festival last night, so Ian flies to Las Vegas this morning, landing about 9:30AM local time, will cab it to the hotel, grab a shower, and head to the Rio Hotel to resume playing.
This is Ian's first time playing in the WSOP Main Event, having played his first game on Monday after flying in from Europe where Anthrax has been on tour for the past several weeks.
Ian, a poker professional and member of the UltimateBet online team, has played home poker games with buddies like Keanu Reeves, Kirk Hammet (METALLICA), Slash (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES), ALICE IN CHAINS' Jerry Cantreall and Vinnie Paul of PANTERA fame. He hosted his first Scott Ian's Home Game online poker tournament last March, and will do the honors again this August.
