ICARUS WITCH have issued the following statement in the wake of original CRIMSON GLORY vocalist Midnight's passing:

"We are saddened to hear about the death of original Crimson Glory vocalist, Midnight. He was a major inspiration for Icarus Witch and other bands of our style. Transcendence in particular is a rare 10/10 album for the ages and exemplified artistic perfection in vocal expertise, passionate lyric, music and graphic design. Having been a fan of the band since childhood, it was a pleasure to meet and talk with Midnight at the Brave Words 6-Pack Festival in Cleveland, Ohio a few years ago where his acoustic rendition of 'Burning Bridges' sent chills through that intimate setting. At that time he was a quiet, humble man, very gracious to myself and his many fans. For those who hadn't heard about this untimely passing, go here ."

As previously reported, Midnight (real name John Patrick McDonald Jr.) passed away on Wednesday, July 8th at 3:30am EST due to kidney and liver failure. He was 47 years old. A public memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m. today (Saturday, July 11th) at Siesta Public Beach in Sarasota, Florida

Midnight is survived by his mother, Patricia A. Gentry of Sarasota; his brothers, Andrew and Matthew McDonald of Sarasota; his sister, Terry April of Sarasota; his daughters, Ariel and Heaven of Dallas; and his grandson, Benjamin.

In other news, Midnight's version of the SARAH MCLACHLAN song 'Arms Of An Angel' has been posted online at his MySpace page.

"In death I've found the answer

In death I live again

Fear not the reaper's blade

It does not mean the end

It never really ends"
