Alan Cochrane from Canadaeast.com is reporting:

There will be a stronger presence of both RCMP and private security at the Magnetic Hill (in Moncton, NB) concert site for next month's show by AC/DC, but the extra cost of RCMP for concerts has been trimmed dramatically since the Rolling Stones played here in 2005.

"When the ROLLING STONES played here in 2005 the bill for the RCMP was $265,000 and it should never have been anywhere near that," Ian Fowler, the City of Moncton's general manager of Tourism, Recreation and Parks, said yesterday. The cost of RCMP for last year's concert by the Eagles was $60,000. That was further reduced to just over $30,000 for last month's show by Bon Jovi.

Although the security plan for AC/DC isn't finalized, Fowler says the cost could be back up in the $60,000 range as the event is expected to draw far more people than the EAGLES or BON JOVI and security will have to be increased accordingly.

"We're not commenting on ticket sales numbers but we expect AC/DC to be the largest outdoor concert in the Maritimes this summer, probably the largest crowd at the hill since the Rolling Stones."
