He's considered by many in the music industry as a master live concert audio mixer, the guiding hands behind tours of bands like NIRVANA, QUEENSRŸCHE, AEROSMITH and THE BLACK CROWES - and he's the victim of a tragic murder mystery in a small town in Eastern Washington.
It's a mystery because no one seems to know why a 57-year-old suspect would shoot 49-year-old Tom Pfaeffle through a closed hotel door, fatally wounding him.
Pfaeffle was shot and killed Friday night while vacationing with his wife in Twisp, said Police Chief Rick Balam.
Balam tells KING 5 Pfaeffle apparently tried to use his hotel key in the wrong door at the Blue Spruce Hotel in Twisp, and the suspect shot him in the upper chest through the door. Pfaeffle died two hours later at a hospital.
