HELIX singer Brian Vollmer has issued the following update:

"This has to most unpredictable years in the history of the band, but somehow through all of it the band has 'evolved' to a new level. The ironic thing is that we’ve come full circle, back to the start with the reunification of the original line-up from the 80’s-drummer Greg "Fritz" Hinz, guitarist Brent "The Doctor" Doerner, bassist Daryl Gray and myself, and a new CD destined for release in the fall, tentatively entitled Vagabond Bones, which harkens back to our roots, yet sounds contemporary. The first three tracks, which have been heard by several people in the industry now, have been getting high marks. Notable in this regard is Derek Oliver of Rock Candy Records, which over the past several years has released re-mastered versions of Walking The Razor’s Edge and No Rest For The Wicked. Derek was also a writer for Kerrang! Magazine back in the day. Derek thinks this is some of the best stuff he’s ever heard from us.

As mentioned in the last Sunday Update, Sean (Kelly; CRASH KELLY) is leaving Helix to become the new guitarist for Nelly Furtado. However, Sean is committed to continued writing with me (and occasionally Moe Berg) and to finishing this CD. I would like to think that the relationship will continue for years. Sean is one of the most likeable guys in the business and comes highly recommended by almost everyone who meets him.

With Sean in high demand, his time is limited, so we have to make the best use of that spare time when we record or write. I’m surprised his hectic schedule doesn’t make his head go 'boom!'"
