AC/DC have been called the gold standard for arena spectacle rock n roll and already fans are lining up to buy tickets when they go on sale tomorrow morning.

They hit Wellington and Auckland early next year, promising to ride in on a full sized locomotive.

AC/DC is considered by many to be the most epic rock band of all time and they are set to play two shows here, supporting their first album in eight years - Black Ice.

The first concert will be in Wellington in January, followed by Auckland in February.

Overseas they have been getting rave reviews, the band rocking now for over three decades.

“You just pretend you’re in a local pub, if you can change a stadium into that its brilliant,” says vocalist Brian Johnson.

Johnson joined AC/DC in 1980, replacing original frontman Bon Scott who died after a heavy night of drinking.

Since then Johnson has become an integral part of the band, still amazed they are such a big deal, selling 200 million records.

“You’re going to a gig stuck in your own traffic,” says Johnson.
