DIVINITY DESTROYED - "From Blow To Suck"
August 3, 2009, 15 years ago
New Jersey-based progressive metallers DIVINITY DESTROYED have issued the following:
"So yeah, those bulletins promoting the July 31st show at Gille Park in Forked River said we’d be playing “rain or shine”. We didn’t factor in tornado warnings. We apologize to anyone who’d driven long distances, got stuck in Parkway traffic, or plain old disappointed.Any sort of recap wouldn’t do justice to what happened at the onset of the storm, but here’s one anyway:
Initial tornado warnings were disregarded as IT COULD END TOMORROW set up on the makeshift stage, Gary Reid expressing his joy louder than ever. As the skies quickly blackened, Divinity and END OF AN ERA happily unloaded their gear, unaware that they might as well have lobbed it all directly into a swimming pool.
An early idea to shift the stage a few feet further into the shelter proved futile as the storm came blasted in horizontally, thoroughly drenching the most expensive equipment first. The event was subsequently scrapped due to a waterlogged PA system among other things. Like tornados.
While some kept their cool and rushed to shelter gear facing the backdrop of a deadly tempest, others either used the flooded lawn as a Slip and Slide or wrestled in puddles of rainwater and woodchips. And, of course, Mark had his camera in people’s faces the entire time.
And to the guy that bought merch in the middle of all this, we like your style.
To everyone else, go to the Court Tavern show next Friday. If you’re not 21+, get a fake ID. You didn’t hear that from us. Despite the fact that it’s written right there."
