As previously reported, CHASTAIN guitarist David Chastain will release a new SOUTHERN GENTLEMEN album on September 15th through his label, Leviathan Records. An audio sample of the track 'Back Door Woman' is now available for streaming at this location.
Following is the official press release for the album:
Southern Gentlemen’s debut CD, Exotic Dancer Blues, was released in 2000 to rousing praise from both critics and fans. Since then the band has released three other highly acclaimed CDs: In 2003 Double Your Pleasure, 2006 Third Time Is The Charm, and 2008 Valley Of Fire.
Southern Gentlemen’s sound has been described by critics as a mixture of any of the following: Rock, Metal, Blues, 80s, 70s, and Hard Rock. Positive comparisons as a new generation of ZZ TOP, JIMI HENDRIX, SSTEVIE RAY VAUGHN, ROBIN TROWER, CREAM, BAD COMPANY, WHITESNAKE, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and others of the era helped fortify the band’s reputation.
Southern Gentlemen’s music has been used extensively on numerous TV networks such as NBC, VH1, CBS, USA, MTV, A&E;, Biography, National Geographic, History Channel, Discovery, Discovery Health, CMTV, Comedy Central, Learning Channel, FIT TV, NFL Network, Travel Channel, Animal Planet, Bravo, HGTV, VSPOT, Style, Disney, SCI-FI, Spike TV and others. Although not as common, the band’s music has also made it onto a few major motion picture DVDs domestically as well as internationally.
Band founder and guitarist David T. Chastain explains: “There is a simple explanation to the origin of this new release, Instrumentalized. A music supervisor asked us to give him an instrumental version of one of our tracks. After completing his request we were very happy with the end result. We then decided to arrange a few more tracks for our own enjoyment. In the end we decided to put together an entire CD's worth of material as we thought the tracks rocked instrumentally and stood on their own. So we hope the fans enjoy listening as much as we did putting the release together.”
Instrumentalized continues the band’s mission of incorporating Hard Rock, Blues and Metal into the “Southern Gentlemen Sound.” A sound that is growing in acceptance.
David’s final comment: “Either you get us or you don’t. We don’t really care what is happening around us and were aren’t trying to make it onto the cover of some teenybopper magazine. Southern Gentlemen is having a great time playing classic music with a modern slant, kicking ass and giving a one finger salute to the music establishment.”
