hot flashes news

BW&BK; has received the following press release:

Building off the success of last year's inaugural event, the second installment of the Kansas City Power Metal Fest returns to The Riot Room. The first and only fest of its kind in the Kansas City region, bringing traditional, power and true metal bands together for a unique lineup, this year's KCPMF promises to be bigger, louder and heavier than ever before. With two stages, featuring a slew of national acts as well as the some of the area's best locals, the fest, which runs Friday, August 14th and Saturday August 15th, promises to be the most metal weekend the Heartland has ever witnessed. As last year's fest was able to draw in crowds from all over the country, it's little wonder that even the bands themselves are excited about the event.

Al Ravage, vocalist for Metal Blade recording artists RAVAGE, shares his thoughts on the fest:

"In regards to the Kansas City Power Fest, everyone in Ravage is really excited to have the chance to play a festival like this (in America for once!!!). Fans will get a great mix of traditional metal of the likes of MANILLA ROAD, etc. as well as up and coming thrash and power metal acts - so it will be a cool show to witness as well as play. I like the fact that the show will be split up over two days and take place at a small venue with a very limited number of bands playing, because it will allow the fans to check out all the bands without getting too worn out (as they often do at a lot of the bigger festivals that have a million bands play). We appreciate the promoters bringing Ravage's brand of trad metal to America's heartland for the first time as part of our soon-to-be-announced nationwide tour in support of our new album. We look forward to meeting all you KC area metal maniacs!"

Breaking from its traditional metal norm, KCPMF 2009 also features the blackened blasting of another recent Metal Blade signee, LIGHTNING SWORDS OF DEATH. Stylistically worlds apart from the rest of the line-up, LSOD's appearance only accentuates the fest's dedication to true metal fans; an honor which frontman Autarch carries with pride.

"Lightning Swords of Death is a black fucking metal band performing in a power metal festival, and that is just fine with us. Since our inception, we have always felt it necessary to perform this ritual beyond the comfort of Satan-centric gatherings. We take great pleasure in spitting bile, cursing upon the uninitiated. It's a feeling that could only be described as jubilation. There is also a very talented selection of bands playing, and we feel it a great honor to have been asked."
