Swedish Viking metallers AMON AMARTH have issued the following

"Summer’s over!

It’s been an amazing festival summer for us this year. We had shows nearly every weekend from the beginning of June till the end of August.

We got to return to some of our favourite festivals as well as discover some new ones. Some highlights have been on home ground at Sweden Rock Festival. It’s been a real honour to see how many fans we have gotten in the last couple of years in our own backyard.

We also got to play for the first time at Roskilde, a long time dream for us. Metalcamp in Slovenia has become like a summer home and the warm reception in Turkey has been overwhelming!

One show that goes on the top list was of course the one we did at Wacken Open Air. It was the fifth time for us there, first one being 10 years ago in 1999. It’s amazing to see how much that festival has grown over the years with over 75,000 tickets sold (!!). The festival was close to hosting 100,000 people this year.

Summer Breeze is another festival that we keep going back to. This year was one of the best times we’ve ever had there!

The summer ended for us at Rock Area Festival, a great festival with a very nice atmosphere. It was also the last show for us in Germany for a long time.

Now we’ll take a break for about a month from touring.

In October, the second part of our Twilight of The Thunder God tour continues in Europe. We’ll start in Finland and Scandinavia, then to England and Ireland, and ends in France and Italy in the beginning of November.

We’re hoping to squeeze in some 'exotic' shows (to us at least) before the end of the year but at the present moment nothing is confirmed.

We want to thank our crew for the awesome job (as always) this summer. Now enjoy some time off! We also want to thank our friends and brothers of the Jomsvikings for sharing the stage with us at Wacken. Most of all, we want to thank all our loyal and devoted fans for showing us the support and making every show the best one ever!

We hope to see new and old friends at the upcoming shows this fall!

Cheers."
