BraveWords.com scribe Mitch Lafon has issued the following exclusive interview with FREAKSHOW vocalist/guitarist Markus Allen Christopher (M!SS CRAZY):

Q: How did your solo album become Freakshow?

A: "Well after the recording was in mix mode and and all the tracks were finished I was talking with Frankie (Banali - former QUIET RIOT/W.A.S.P. drummer) and throwing around ideas that this could be a killer band instead of just a kick ass solo album with bad ass rockers on it. Now this band idea was so that we could play live and have everyone involved promote it and it could be great and all that crap. Frankie agreed and became 50% owner. Me thinking he would pull out connections/relationships he had and we would be the next thing... Blah,Blah,Blah... But as you noticed we have not played a show and we have thousands of fans who are waiting for us to do so."

Q: How did Freakshow get together?

A: "I called up Jeff Labar (CINDERELLA) first and asked him to come and play on my first solo album away from Miss Crazy and he was totally down to do it. I told him I think I have written some of the best hard rock songs for the CD and he would make it better with his ripping guitar playing. We have similar styles too. When you listen to what he did on the Freakshow CD togethter, it was everything I imagined it would be. He so kicked ass on it. I love his solos! I air guitar them every time I listen! (lol) Then I got a hold of Mr Banali. He was impressed with the last Miss Crazy CD I emailed to him and he thought the tracks were slammin top to bottom. Those were his exact words. So I had a 4 song demo of the new tracks I had written and he liked what he heard and as you all know we recorded a fucking masterpiece of a record. Tony was brought in to play the best bass tracks possible for the CD. Mr. Franklin did just that. Frankie and myself new Tony and Frankie has recorded with him before. So it was great to have him on the record. Some of his best work to dateI must say. Tony was never going to tour and we knew that. We just got spoiled with his insane bass playing!"

Q: You got to work with both Frankie Banali and Jeff Labar. Tell me about that experience?

A: "Working with them was a dream of mine ever since I was a kid. I saw them both when I was real young in the arenas and have much respect for all of them. I saw Cinderella back in the day. Quiet Riot in Oakland and even THE FIRM at The Cow Palace when I was real young. What a fucking trip. I grew up to do a fucking incredible CD with these guys. Who would ever believe me if I told anyone this when I was a kid that this is what I would do when I grow up!! My friends would have laughed and made fun of me for talking out of my ass. HEY DAD!!!!! WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT YOUR SON NOW??!!"

Q: What can you tell me on a personal level about Frankie and Jeff?

A: "Jeff is a real mellow funny guy who I got along with great. He loves football and sports! I am a big fan of the same things and that really works because I am a total sports nut!

It was kick ass that his Philly's won The World Series. His Eagles almost went to The Super Bowl. Frankie is like a school teacher of Rock in The Music Business. He is more like a father figure. You know anytime you think you know something, he makes you feel like you don't know shit. Even though you might. He has some answer reply that makes you feel stupid for even asking it. Frankie has told me some amazing Rock stories that I will cherish forever. Great stories."

Q: How exciting it was it to record with "multi-platinum recording artists"?

A: "It was very exciting. Because always I wanted to know what it might be like to play with the big boys and now I know. It has so much heart to it too. Because these guys influenced me so much. The way the Freakshow CD came out shows that dreams do come true. Even if it was for that one CD. That CD will live on forever and the tracks show how killer everyone on it is!! A showcase of all of our talents to the max!! You can hear each of us so good on the Freakshow CD. The songs made it easy for all of us to do that."

Q: Would you agree that Frankie Banali is one of rock's greatest drummers?

A: "Yes."

Q: Will you be touring the album?

A: "Not at the moment. We have waited as long as we can for Mr. Banali to come around after some very personal family situations. Which is totally expected. We were very sad for him and his daughter. Frankie has to have certain accommodations to play live and tour. Nothing we could do could be enough for him to play live. We got a number of offers and he would not agree to do any of them. Eventually Jeff and I decided we needed to look into touring without Frankie. Frankie agreed and mentioned a few drummers and we did just that. We really wanted him to play with us, but we could not come to terms with Mr. Banali. So in a nut shell that CD and Tour is not going to happen. Total fucking shame isn't it? The recession is also to blame. The recession is not enough for myself and Mr. LaBar not to tour. We will bring Freakshow to the fans!!"

Q: If so, will the band join you on the road as is or will you use other musicians?

A: "Jeff and I along with Chris Jordan (Miss Crazy) will tour live. Then we will have two guys from Miss Crazy. We will decide a bass player when we need to. Live we can do Freakshow songs, Miss Crazy songs and Cinderella songs also. It works out great. Plus Freakshow and Miss Crazy both have 100,000 + on the MySpace pages. Another great PR avenue for a tour!! Look at all the plays both bands get every day? That tells me that the live show will be cool!"

Q: How did the songs on the album come about?

A: "I wrote them after I wrote Miss Crazy 2. The band never did a tour for the second record so I just started writing a new CD. Well really a solo album as you know. I had some things I wanted to say and write and it turned into Freakshow and now we are here and and I'm talking to you about it. (lol)"

Q: Did you write them or did the band sit down together?

A: "No. I wrote it all in my room. Like James Hetfield used to do. I had it all ready to go. Frankie came over my house and we worked out what we would do on the CD. Then we jammed it out and recorded the drum tracks and built it from there."

Q: Will there be another Freakshow album soon? If so, when will you start work on it?

A: "Yes. I am writing it now. So we can tour sooner than later. We need a product that we can sell that Frankie Banali doesn't take 50% of. That is most of the reason we will not do anything for that last kick ass record. The Freakshow CD is dead to me now... why should I and Jeff bust our asses? For a CD that Frankie takes 50% on? He doesn't PR it. He won't play a show or fucking tour. So fuck that great CD!! I'll write another one. Right?"

Q: Tell me about your band Miss Crazyy?

A: "My band. I love Miss Crazy. We have some fucking loyal underground fans that kick total ass. Different members along the way. But the band stands for HARD ROCK! The band earned me respect from other rockers and musicians in my field. Most of my heroes and musicians I knew growing up know of me now. They know what I can do as a songwriter/singer/guitarist. I work hard at this and take it very seriously. Miss Crazy and it's fans shows that hard work. I am very proud. And my drummer Chris Jordan RULES!"

Q: Will you be recording or touring soon?

A: "No because Freakshow will be! And Chris Jordan is now in Freakshow. So.... Miss Crazy songs will be played with Freakshow. Kinda cool. We all win."

Q: Tell me about your "look". Visually, you are very interesting and seem to change your image from project to project. How important are "visuals" to a band?

A: "I think it is important. I mean I wear the make up because it is total fucking rock! KISS and ALICE COOPER and a few others made themselves different from all the others. It is fun and is has a fantasy style thing to it. Mystery. Make up brings out something in my playing and singing that rocks. I really come alive with the make up. Like Paul Stanley does!"

Q: What bands influenced you growing up and how did they influence you?

A: "KISS, DEF LEPPARD, KIX, Cinderella, AC/DC, MÖTLEY CRÜE, VAN HALEN, METALLICA - just to name a few. These bands showed me how to be the best. How to write songs. How to act. How to fret chords. How to grow your hair. How to do your make-up. How to get chicks! I noticed singers get all the girls! Never complained about that! These bands showed me the way. I have taken everything I could to be what I am now."

Q: What are you future plans for both Freakshow and personally?

A: To record a new CD and get on the road with no hassle this time. Making sure we all can tour and play 150 shows across the US and rock everyone's ass off. Plus we will have a new CD with new songs to go with the other ones we already have. More fun ahead. We have a great PR team that runs our band pages. We have Rose Entertainment that works hard for us. Our Freakshow/Miss Crazy camp has worked hard this last year. It is sad that things turned out the way they did after all that hard work... A dream solo CD turned into a fucked nightmare. But it lit the fire under my ass!! Jeff LaBar too. We know what we can do and we will do it!!"
