Report: More Work Remains Before Payouts In Station Fire

The Associated Press is reporting:
A lawyer says work remains before survivors of The Station nightclub fire and relatives of the 100 people killed can receive their shares of a $176 million settlement.
Mark Mandell, who represents many people affected by the disaster, said in court Thursday that it’s hard to say when the more than 300 plaintiffs will be paid. He told a magistrate that several hurdles remain, including getting a judge’s approval for each of the individual settlements reached in the case.
Investigators said the Feb. 20, 2003, fire started when a pyrotechnics display by the rock band GREAT WHITE set fire to foam used as soundproofing.
Survivors and victims’ relatives had sued dozens of people and companies, including the club’s owners, foam manufacturers and the state of Rhode Island.
