JOE LYNN TURNER On Yngwie Malmsteen's Odyssey Album - "One Of The Albums I Am Most Proud Of In My Career"
September 29, 2009, 15 years ago
Vocalist Joe Lynn Turner (OVER THE RAINBOW, SUNSTORM, ex-DEEP PURPLE) is featured in a new interview with GeoRock Zine. An excerpt is available below:
GeoRock: You've been on the scene for more than 30 years now. Surely there were some ups and downs in your career. Which was the best and worst moment in your career?
JLT: "I learn from all of the bad moments so I do not view them as really bad moments after all. It's important that as we go through life that we take every negative experience and see what we can glean from it. As for the 'ups'---too many to name but one of the biggest highlights of my career in RAINBOW was playing Madison Square Garden. I grew up just outside of New York City in northern New Jersey and went to concerts there as a teenager. To come back home and play in that legendary space with a band like Rainbow was an experience I will cherish the rest of my life."
GeoRock: Let's go back in 1988. I believe that (Yngwie) Malmsteen's Odyssey was one of his most successful yet commercial albums. Are you happy with this collaboration? Yngwie states that Odyssey is one of his favorite albums.
JLT: "Absolutely! It is also one of the albums I am most proud of in my career so...there you have it! That whole album was great...start to finish."
