October 5, 2009, 15 years ago
US metallers SINGLE BULLET THEORY have issued the following update from vocalist Matt DiFabio:
"I would like to officially welcome Acacio Carvalho to the family of SBT."A bio on the band's new drummer reads:
"Acácio started playing the drums at age 10 and has studied with many tutors in Brasília-Brazil (his hometown), with whom he has learned the first "steps" about his instrument. At age 14, Acacio had been in contact with heavier bands and drummers, getting more interested and feeling more deep-inside in double bass techiniques.
During this time Acacio started playing in local bands, where he had the opportunity of improve his techinical and artistical skills. Among the bands he had been in, one can point at AMRTAM, BLACK SUNRISE and DEATH Tribute.
Such works gave him a strong visibility among his local public, bringing the invitation for the legendary band DARK AVENGER. Playing among other musicians from all over the country, he was chosen to fit the vacancy.
At 17, Acacio had his first opportunity to spread his work abroad. With Dark Avenger, he went through all parts of Brazil, taking part in heavy metal festivals in the biggest and most important music festivals and recorded a live album entitled Alive in the Dark which was recorded in Sao Paulo(Brazil) and had the participation of an orchestra on the stage.
During these times, Acacio started to have more views over his drumming work and lots of invitations for interviews, clinics and masterclasses started to come. He was featured in many magazines and webzines worldwide, like the American magazine Modern Drummer, where he spoke about his album recordings, his setup, and also his career and details about his new band.
In June 2005, after the Dark Avenger's end, Acacio decided to set up a new project, with his old friends from the band (also ex-Dark Avenger) Hugo Santiago and Gzus. It would be a daring and totally new project, in which it refers to heavy metal and music in general. Based on this concept, was created VOUGAN, his actual main band.
In 2009 Acácio relocated to the United States and started a new phase of his career.
Nowadays his solid, powerful and technical drumming is a strong trademark of his style, that can be checked in all of his recordings worldwide with the most diverse artists."
Single Bullet Theory will begin recording new material in November. Stay tuned for updates.
