OZZY OSBOURNE To Back Campaign To Get Roy Wood A Star On Birmingham Broad Street

According to Sundaymercury.net, rock icon OZZY OSBOURNE has added heavyweight support to the Sunday Mercury’s Get Woody A Star campaign.

The Prince of Darkness, who was the first person to be inducted onto Birmingham’s Walk Of Stars, says Roy Wood has made such an important contribution to Brum’s music scene that he must be honoured.

‘‘I’m amazed that Roy wasn’t up for one of the first stars,’’ said 60-year-old Ozzy, while promoting his autobiography in Birmingham.

‘‘He was with Carl Wayne in THE MOVE, then ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA and WIZZARD.

“When I was a kid it was all the Liverpool scene – but Birmingham has had its fair share of successful entertainers throughout my life. We had just as many as Liverpool did.’’
