The big-haired Broadway hit Rock Of Ages is coming to Toronto, and you could be in it.

Mirvish Productions revealed yesterday that it will hold open call auditions across the continent to cast a mixture of Canadian and U.S. talent, and no professional experience is required.

"We love the idea of that guy who's in his garage in the middle of nowhere, who just has that dream," said Carl Levin, one of the show's lead producers.

David Mirvish staged a star-studded unveiling at the Royal Alexandra Theatre yesterday, inviting hundreds and treating them to performances by Kevin Cronin of REO SPEEDWAGON, NIGHT RANGER and a pair of New York cast members. Dee Snider of TWISTED SISTERalso helped out as an emcee.

Rock Of Ages tells the story of a small-town girl falling for a big-city rocker over classic songs by STYX, Twisted Sister, POISON, WHITESNAKE and many other bands.

The show has played at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York since early this year, after runs off-Broadway and in Los Angeles. The Toronto run, directed by Kristin Hanggi, starts April 27.
