AC/DC Family Jewels Exhibition To Be Held At Melbourne Art Centre
October 30, 2009, 15 years ago
According to Paul Cashmere from Undercover.com.au, The Melbourne Art Centre is presenting AC/DC Family Jewels, a collection of memorabilia from the band and their record company, from November 2009 to February 2010.
The exhibition is part of the Melbourne Art Centre’s Icon exhibition series, which has seen exhibits from Nick Cave, Kylie and Skyhooks over recent years.
The AC/DC Exhibition includes “costumes, instruments, stage props, photographs and rare hand-written material such as letters, notebooks and lyrics. There will also be extensive moving image and sound material such as interviews, video clips and rarely seen performance footage, as well as published tour ephemera including exceptional early concert posters, programmes, backstage passes and AC/DC collectibles.”
Curator Tim Fisher says, “There is little doubt that after 35 years on the world stage AC/DC are by far Australia’s most successful and influential performing artists. AC/DC Australia’s Family Jewels seeks to link the material history of the band to the experience of their music. The exhibition will also try to convey – both through exhibited material and an interactive online initiative – the place that AC/DC holds for their devoted fans.”
