He was the Midland music mogul who helped organise history’s greatest rock concert.

A friend to stars like LED ZEPPELIN and AC/DC, Maurice Jones helped build a promoting empire from his family home in Walsall.

At its peak his company, Midland Concert Productions, was selling more than two million tickets a year for concerts by pop and rock’s biggest names.

And Maurice was able to use his understated influence to help pull off the epic charity concert of all time – Live Aid in 1985, bringing together the likes of QUEEN, U2 and DAVID BOWIE Bowie.

Last week, the 64 year-old music boss died after a long battle with cancer, leaving behind wife Diane, 65, and daughters Nicola, 39 and 35-year-old Kristy.
