Norwegian experimental punk rockers LYDIA LASKA are close to completing work on their new album, due out around March 2010, and which, according to drummer Voldswagen, has been a long time in the making:

“We started recording in the summer of 2006, and had to take detours round the usual chaos that seemed to follow Lydia Laska around, and at times it felt like we were working on our own little Chinese Democracy. But it’s all finished now except for the mastering, and we’ve left all the problems behind us and become a bit more “civilised”, believe it or not! We’ve produced an album that’s a lot more inventive than anything we’ve done before, and we’re very happy with the result”.

Amongst the several guest artists on the album is CARPATHIAN FOREST main man Nattefrost contributing vocals. Others include Emil Nikolaisen and Eivind Schou from SERENA MANEESH on guitar/vox and fuzzed up violin respectively, Kjetil Møster from DATAROCK on sax, Bård Ingebrigtsen from SIRENS AND US on magic, broken instruments and engine-ear, Bøddel from MEKANIK on mellotron, and Sissy Wish on vox.

Track listing as follows:

Side A

'Krankenhaus'

'London'

'Electric Shower'

'What's In It'

Side AA

'Anti-Øtzi'

'Could I Have A Go On Your Girl, Please?'

The band has also found time to contribute a recipe to the Starving Artist Kokebok, which will be published in Norway on November 18th. The cookbook includes recipes from around 40 Oslo-based musicians and bands, all of which have been paired up with a contemporary artist who has illustrated the band’s culinary creation.

Included with the book is a CD with tracks from 20 of the bands, amongst them Lydia Laska, who feature their latest single, 'Could I Have A Go On Your Girl Please?'.

A release party for Starving Artist will be held at Revolver, in Oslo, on Wednesday, November 18th.

More information about Lydia Laska can be found on the band’s MySpace page.
