DEAD SHAPE FIGURE Inks Deal With Dynamic Arts Records
December 3, 2009, 14 years ago
Finnish modern thrash/death influenced metal band DEAD SHAPE FIGURE has signed a recording deal with Dynamic Arts Records. The band’s second album, called The Disease Of St. Vitus, is planned to be released in spring 2010.
The band is now composing new songs for the upcoming album.
Vocalist Galzi comments: “In the middle of our song writing-sessions we woke up to reality that there still was no papers signed and no deal done for our second album... we had just turned down offers this far. There were a few labels we wanted to deal with; the only problem was none of them knew it at the time! The most thing was, that we wanted to communicate as friends in order to make some business and not to deal with corporate-office-somebody and make business at any cost.
The name of the album, The Disease Of St. Vitus, comes from the Finnish poet’s Panu Tuomi’s book called Pyhän Vituksen tauti.
I have translated and arranged the poem book with Tuomi’s kind help and permission. This is the very first time ever Tuomi’s poems have been translated in English.
This album is going to be more organic and dimensional, it’s easier to turn on but it takes more time to dive in. It very much represents DSF today, it also probably gives some hints where we are going tomorrow. It ventilates and snaps necks more than hyperventilates and acts up.”
Since the start of the band in 2003, Dead Shape Figure has aimed their goal to foreign countries. Over 150 played gigs include tours with CHIMAIRA, CRADLE OF FILTH, MOONSPELL and TURISAS.
The group’s debut album, The Grand Karoshi, was released in 2008 through Season Of Mist. Opus’ lyrical content has also been recently translated and modified in Finnish as a poet book - Loppusäkeet - by the band’s vocalist and lyricist Timo "Galzi" Kallio.
