Most likely the biggest band you've never heard about, unless you are well-travelled in prog circles and pray at the altar of YES, GENESIS, ELP and newer leaders such as DREAM THEATER, QUEENSRŸCHE and OPETH. You may recognize PORCUPINE TREE leader Steven Wilson's connection with Mikael Åkerfeldt and Co. But Porcupine Tree has been amassing a loyal following on their own since 1987 and the current success of The Incident sees the band closer to world domination.

Released on September 21st, as a double CD, the centre-piece is the daring title track, which takes up the whole of the first disc. The 55-minute work is described as a slightly surreal song cycle about beginnings and endings and the sense that ‘after this, things will never be the same again.’

The Incident is a loose, semiautobiographical collection of songs "under this umbrella of being incidents of significant points in life, life-changing events," Wilson told Billboard recently. The most poignant example is the lead single, 'Time Flies'. In it, Wilson reflects on his mortality and celebrates his birth year, 1967-a milestone year for rock music.

The Incident hit the Top 30 in Canada, the US and Germany among many other territories.
