January 3, 2010, 14 years ago
PETER GABRIEL's new album, Scratch My Back, is due February 15 from Virgin and features orchestral covers of DAVID BOWIE, PAUL SIMON, NEIL YOUNG among others.
Gabriel describes this as a very personal record with the twelve songs performed only with orchestral instruments and voice. To help craft the recording Peter enlisted John Metcalfe as composer/arranger, the expertise of producer Bob Ezrin (PINK FLOYD, ALICE COOPER, KISS) and the engineer, mixer and producer Tchad Blake (SUZANNE VEGA, SHERYL CROW, TOM WAITS).
Scratch My Back was recorded at George Martin’s Air Lyndhurst Studios and the Real World Temple with further editing back here at Real Worlds Studios in Wiltshire.
Scratch My Back is Gabriel's first studio album since 2002's Up, which peaked at #9 on The Billboard 200.
