DEEP PURPLE's Ian Paice To Celebrate In Rock Anniversary, JIMI HENDRIX In Italy
January 17, 2010, 14 years ago
According to promoters Zed! and Venezia Spettacoli, the Classic Rock Night featuring the IAN PAICE & TOLO MARTON BAND on February 4th at the Gran Teatro in Padova, Italy, will be a celebration of the 40th anniversary of In Rock and also to mark 40 years since the passing of JIMI HENDRIX. It will showcase a project which Paice and Marton have been working on together. The setlist will include a Deep Purple tribute, a few Tolo Marton tracks, a few Hendrix tracks and a rock medley inspired by movie soundtracks.
Tolo Marton (born 1951) is an Italian rock guitarist and composer, who in 1998 won the Jimi Hendrix Electric Guitar Competition in Seattle with a song called 'Alpine Valley'.
His 30 year long career includes collaborations with Jack Bruce and Ginger Backer from CREAM; Billy Cox and Buddy Miles from the BAND OF GYPSYS; Ian Paice and Don Airey from Deep Purple. He opened several times for B.B. KING, MUDDY WATERS, THE BLUES BROTHERS and ROBBEN FORD.
Ian Paice has a few clinics and shows lined up for January and February 2010 in Italy and Spain. Following the sold out of the Verona concert, another date has just been added in Italy.
