DUSKMACHINE / ex-ANNIHILATOR bassist Russ bergquist has checked in with the following update:

"Haven't done an update in a while so I thought I would enlighten those who are interested in my activities. I will add more details in future blogs.

I am still working on my own project. It has been a slow process but I have completed everything except vocals on three songs and guitar solos on four songs. I had Ray Hartmann record drums on four songs, Ryan Van Poederooyen did five tracks. But I will not record this stuff for a while as I am in the midst of recording the bass tracks for the new DuskMachine album. This will be a really cool album. Randy Black (PRIMAL FEAR) on drums. I am about half done with the bass tracks.

I have also been playing with a band here in Vancouver called THE THICK OF IT. We have an album done and ready to release, but we are just making sure we go about it the right way. This band is quite different that anything I have done before. Most projects I have been involved in are based around riffs. All these songs are based around vocals. So, it is interesting in the writing process when the main melody is already there. We have been performing locally and continue to write new songs. Kinda mellower stuff, lots of acoustic guitar and melodic vocals. So, not very metal. But we put on a high energy show.

I have done a few other things in the last while. Recorded bass for DEATH ASSEMBLY out of Edmonton. Recorded some bass for Randy Black's drum DVD. Did the voice over for the 70,000 Tons Of Metal festival (70000tons.com). As these projects continue I will update accordingly."

Cheers,

Russ
